Venezuela and Paraguay victorious in qualifier for 2018 Youth Olympic Games

 
Santiago, Chile, August 28, 2017 - The third stage of the qualification process for the 2018 Youth Olympic Games beach volleyball tournament was played in Santiago, Chile with Venezuelans Diana/Uri claiming the women's tournament and Paraguayans Gonza/Jorge victorious in the men's. Paraguay currently lead the men's qualification ranking with the Venezuelans tied with Brazil in the women's.

In the women's final, Brazilians Maria Luiza/Thamela were beaten by Venezuelans Diana and Uri 2-0 (21-16, 21-15). Brazil and Venezuela are currently level with 540 points in the leadership of the overall qualification ranking. The bronze medal of the stage went to Victoria/Churin from Argentina, who beat Bolivians Canedo/Nicole 2-1 (21-13, 17-21, 13-15).

In the men's tournament final, Paraguayans Gonza/Jorge defeated Venezuelans Gabo/Osório. For the bronze, the victory went to Argentine pair Amieva/Gazaba against Chileans Droguett/Lammel.
